I’m almost always in Tahoe and where the snow can get really heavy and wet, so very light skis haven’t done well at speed. I have tended to like traditionally mounted directional skis. I’m not super concerned with groomer performance since I’ve got some slalom skis for when I want to really carve all day, but ideally they don’t feel like total shit when the snow isn’t perfect. If you're having a hard time choosing a waist width, or you ski a lot of different conditions during the season and never really know what to expect, the Moment Sierra Skis are a fine choice for your 'quiver of one.' I like how stable it is at high speeds, but at slow speeds it’s not very fun since it starts floating less and you can really feel the weight a lot more, tail hooking up, etc.Īll the snow has made for lots of days with crap visibility and massive crowds, so I find I’m skiing slower to compensate more often than I’d like.
